Gerhard Lehmbruch und die österreichische Politikwissenschaft

Abstract

Gerhard Lehmbruchs 75.Geburtstag ist der Anlass, über Lehmbruchs wesentlichen Einfluss auf die Entwicklung der Politikwissenschaft in Österreich vor mehr als dreißig Jahren zu reflektieren. Als Wissenschafter – insbesondere im Zusammenhang mit seiner Buch „Proporzdemokratie“ – und als Kollege zählte er zu jenen Nicht-Österreichern, die eine kleine Zahl junger österreichischer Politologinnen und Politologen in den 60er Jahren inspirierte. Gerhard Lehmbruch gehörte zu jenen (vor allem US-amerikanischen und deutschen) PolitologInnen, die – direkt und indirekt – der Politikwissenschaft halfen, sich in einem Land zu definieren, das den Großteil seiner Erinnerung an die besonderen österreichischen Wurzeln der modernen Sozialwissenschaften begraben hatte.
