Abstract

The contribution focuses on visual representations of anti-Islam and anti-Muslim politics, the latter being an example of current anti-pluralism. Interpretative and reconstructive methods are applied to the analysis of selected political ads used by rightwing populist and rightwing-extremist political parties and initiatives from Austria, Germany and Switzerland. Emphasis is placed on the trans-nationality of political imagery, in particular on those images which have meanwhile reached iconic status.
